vKey 2006 - Virtual Keypad Information
vKey 2006 is a "Virtual Keypad" for home or business security systems.
As the name implies, vKey is a program that creates a virtual security system
keypad on a standard PC . This virtual keypad supports all the basic functions
of a wall mounted security keypad plus many additional features. Since it
runs on a Windows® PC it can provide either local or remote access to security systems.
vKey supports the popular line of
GE NetworxTM NX-8 or NX-8E security system panels
equipped with NX-590 TCP/IP modules.
vKey allows homeowners or business managers to use a PC to access and control the
security panel in their home or office. All the basic features are supported to
control the system on a daily basis.

Internet and Local Network Support
All the functionality of the Networx security system can be accessed from a home or
small business network or across the Internet. vKey 2006 connects to a NX-590 module
in the security system to provide complete keypad functionality from a PC.
In this way, a business owner can check the status of a security system from
home, including checking the time of recent openings and closings. Or a homeowner
could disarm a home system from the office to allow access to workers or delivery
people.
Compatible with Home Automation
vKey is compatible and complementary to any home automation control system that
uses the "X10" protocol. X10 commands can be sent from vKey through the Networx
panel, even when vKey is being used remotely over the Internet. vKey is especially
well suited for use along with our
Zeus Home Control software. For specific
ideas how home automation can be integrated with security, read
